NextEra Energy operates dual commodity exposures. Florida Power & Light, the regulated utility, passes through natural gas fuel costs to ratepayers but faces regulatory lag. The renewables buildout creates upfront commodity demand, but once operational, renewable assets have zero fuel cost exposure -- a powerful long-term hedge against fossil fuel commodity volatility.
